It has once again been to the caretaker management of the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Austin Eguavoen after the 2012 NFF collapse negotiations with a German coach Bruno Labbadia on various tax payment terms.

Labbadia, for example, would replace Siasia on the terms that such negotiations follow as were reached earlier in September.

This includes but is not limited to Labbadia condition that the NFF covers taxes of his payment of around 32%-40% of his professional income earnings to German taxes, which was a deal breaker.

“When he was in the process of consulting us,” NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau said, “We were trying our level best to be liberal in the negotiation, while he was not willing the NFF should shoulder the whole tax bill. It is impossible, we cant do it.”

Therefore Eguavoen will lead the Super Eagles in their next 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, first on September 7 in Uyo against Benin Republic, then on September 10 in Kigali against Rwanda.

Forth time in charge of Nigeria National team since 2005-2007; 2010; 2022 - Eguavon has appointed the head coach position to the Super Eagles for the fourth time since October 4 2013.
