Buying private jet NOW is a FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP - Donald Duke to Tinubu

Donald Duke, Cross Rivers ex-governor, has lambasted the move to procure a plane for President Bola Tinubu.

A week ago, the presidency revealed that it had acquired a new Airbus A330 for a replacement of a Boeing B737-700 that was acquired 19 years ago during the reign of President Abasanjo.

During an appearance on Inside Sources anchored by Laolu Akande on Channels Television on Friday, the former governor bashed the move considering the country economy and termed it as a leadership failure

“And this is the aspect where I think you will be looking for glamour: telling your people that at the moment they are in the wilderness is not something pleasant. It is purely a failure of your leadership. If I am the head of a family, I want everything in that family. I do not wish that that family members will have a difficult time,” said Duke.

“If life is reasonably difficult I then feel it is my failure that they do not have the things they are entitled to or I have not done certain thigs I should do. I would say Please Mr. Tinubu, see the Nigerian nation as a family which needs support. What is right for that family is also right for the nation.

“To buy a new plane or yacht or just indulge in some extravagance, it is a failure of leadership. You cannot be extravagant wearing the biggest agbada, throwing parties while your children are unsatisfied and thirsty for even the most basic food.”
