The dispute over Air Peace flight operations from the UK has now taken another dimension as Festus Keyamo, Nigeria Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development has written to his British counterpart protesting against this.

In a letter dated August 1, 2024 and addressed to Louise Haigh who is the Secretary of State for Transport in the UK, Keyamo warned that if Air Peace is not allocated a space at London Heathrow then Nigeria would be “compelled” to reciprocate by denying Virgin Atlantic and British Airways slots at Lagos and Abuja airports.

Nigeria carrier, Air Peace currently operates from Gatwick Airport which is the second largest airport following Heathrow which is considered primary airport for UK.

Despite being situated closer to Central London than Gatwick, Air Peace has made all attempts possible in vain to seek a slot at Heathrow.

According to TheCable, Keyamo displeased writes in a letter on behalf of Nigerian government on consistent denial of slot by its office in UK run by Slot Offical to fly air peace into heathrow; their first choice since they started operating in Uk in March 2024.
