Seizure of our presidential jets is an international embarassment - Obi

The seizure of aircraft in the Nigerian Presidential Air Fleet has been described as an international embarrassment by Mr Peter Obi who was a former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, LP.

This, according to him, is yet another embarrassment among many others that show the leadership failure of Nigeria and her uncommitted attitude towards democracy when it comes to rule of law.

An independent arbitral tribunal chaired by Britain ex-Supreme Court President had announced this award after Ogun state government refused to respect the Chinese company – Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited which was given $74.5m.

These jets formed part of Nigeria Presidential Air Fleet that was seized.

On Thursday, however, The Presidency confirmed knowledge of these happenings accusing Zhongshan of trying to take over Nigeria offshore assets on pretense.

In a statement on Thursday, Obi pointed out that despite widespread outcry and unbearable economic hardships, the Federal Government went ahead with the jet deal illustrating insensitivity on part Tinubu Bola administration and his predecessors.

According to Obi: “Yet more disgraceful news about our failed leaders and their attitudes will be tending globally regarding three Jets belonging to Nigeria Presidential fleet.”
