BrazIlian football legend Ronaldinho's son close to joining Burnley FC

According to Sky Sports, the son of Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho, João Mendes is about to join English Championship side Burnley.

Scott Parker, who is the head coach of Burnley has confirmed that his club is in the final stages of signing 19-year-old Brazilian but also moved quickly to play down the acquisition significance for Mendes when speaking to reporters.

The 18-year-old Mendes will come to Turf Moor after a year playing for Barcelona academy.

Mendes has signed two years with Burnley as stated by Globo and Parker has announced that both parties are very close.

Nothing is done yet officially at this point,” said Parker on Thursday. “We think he could be a development player, we see him coming in as a project but we have not put pen to paper yet.”
“I understand people being excited but I do NOT think it would be fair on a little boy feeling the weight on his shoulders; this guy comes here for us to make him grow

“I get what all the fuss is about-they mention his dad name. We hope he joins us but there is still so much work to do – different culture, different way of doing things – so i would probably calm [that excitement] down.”
