Seized jets - Chinese firm an impostor, We did nothing wrong - Amosun

The former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun has said that Zhongfu International Investment FXE is an impersonator as far as the dispute over the Ogun/Guangdong Free Trade Zone is concerned.

The Nigerian presidential fleet recently lost three planes upon court order in France and Switzerland.

This seizure was sparked by Zhongfu, a Chinese Company involved in a protracted legal battle with Ogun State over the management of an EPZ.

These captured airplanes include one Dassault Falcon 7X in Paris, a Boeing 737, and Airbus A330 awaiting delivery valued at over $100 million. The last two are currently undergoing repair works in Switzerland.

Zhongfu won a judgement against Ogun State for terminating their contract and got awarded $74.5m. This incident of presidential jets being seized falls within company endeavour to recoup this amount.

In his press release on Sunday, Amosun, who terminated its agreement during his tenure as Governor of Ogun State, outlined the background history behind it and the legal battles involved indicating that it is a commercial rivalry between China Africa Investment FXE and Zhongfu International Investment FXE; no nexus to Ogun State or Nigeria governments at all.
