You can now change your NIN details from home - NIMC

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has launched a new online portal for Self-Service Modifications, which enables Nigerians to conveniently update their National Identification Number (NIN) details from the comfort of their houses.

This will streamline Name Change, Phone Number Change, Date of Birth Update and Address Update process and also eliminate the need to physically visit any NIMC office.

Modification Charges

Below are the fees for this service:

Correction of Date of Birth: ₦16,340

Name Modification: ₦1,522

Telephone Number Modification: ₦1,522

Address Correction: ₦1,522

Requirements/Prerequisites

To use the internet-based process; an activated phone number must be linked with your NIN.

How To Do A Shortcode And Modify Your NIN?

You are supposed to dial *346# from your mobile phone.

From the menu provided click on “NIN Modification”.

Input your 11-digit NIN for confirmation purposes.

Choose what you want to change about you details like Change name or date of birth or change address etc.

Fill in your new data confirming that they are correct.

Enter the SMS code given on your device to finish up with everything.

Once received, it means that you have successfully changed your existing NIN information through text messaging method.

NB: If you lost or had your previous phone number stolen and then desire amendment regarding its usage with reference to changing numbers as previously linked with your NIN. However this would require a police report issued against this case first before being affected by such changes due either thefts or loses.
